Meet Dr. Davidson – Retired
Dr. Brad Davidson is the founder of Fingerlakes Smiles. Dr. Brad is currently enjoying some free time and doing a lot of traveling. After arriving in Auburn in 1976, he started this practice in 1977. Since then certainly much has changed but much has stayed the same. When he began, the team included Dr. Davidson and one assistant in a compact office on North Street. The team, as you can see has grown significantly and is now located in a lovely historic home on South Street. What has not changed is the original philosophy which we all feel makes us unique and has been the key to our success. As a team, and individually, we do all we can to make all of our patients’ dental experiences as pleasant and stress free as possible. We treat everyone as we would like to be treated if we were in their place. At the same time we are committed to providing the finest care possible, with a strong emphasis on esthetics. We are proud of our reputation as the place to come if you want the highest level of care with the lowest level of stress.
Dr. Davidson grew up in Connecticut and fell in love with the Finger Lakes while attending Hobart College in Geneva. After Hobart, he graduated from Dental School at New York University and then spent an extra year as a Resident at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester. He spent 15 years actively teaching in the Graduate Dental Program at Strong Memorial. He has been president of the Cayuga County Dental Society and the Greater Rochester District of the New York State Dental Association. In 2000 he received this districts highest honor, the George Greenwood Award. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fouchard Academy. He has represented dentistry in various roles in the American Dental Association both in Albany at the State level and Nationally. Locally, Dr. Davidson has served the community in many roles including President of the Board of Directors of the YMCA, School Board member for 15 years, Past President of the Union Springs School Board, coach of numerous youth sports teams and many years on the organizing committee of “The Great Race.” He was honored recently to receive the Auburn YMCA’s “Member of the Year”. Dr. Davidson lives in Cayuga with his wife Holly. Their daughter, Heather, lives in Auburn and is one of the directors at the Aurora Inn. Their son, Greg graduated from Hobart College, served in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria and currently lives in Washington D.C.. In his free time “Dr. Brad” enjoys outdoor activities such as running, biking, boating, hiking, skiing, and scuba diving. While at work though he most enjoys helping his patients cope with and overcome any fears, become and stay healthy, love their “enhanced” smiles, and become not just patients, but friends.
